Hi,
My wife just finished her associates in Arts in general studies from a community college. She is planning to transfer to a four year college later. So she preferred the general studies as major.
She applied for OPT and got an RFE that says
"A degree in the general studies is designed to enable students to combine courses from different disciplines and still obtain a college degree. General studies provides students the ability to take courses the same way they did in high school with no one subject dominating their studies. General studies majors are given an education to help them advance in the marketplace, without forcing them to focus on one specific discipline. Additionally, student who are not sure which file to pursue will begin as a general study major; when a specific path appeals to them the student may then choose a department. The precise nature of a general studies degree varies from university to university.
To be eligible for OPT you must submit evidence that the employment you seek will be directly related to the degree you received. Please submit the evidence of the employment that will be sought and how it is directly related to the General studies degree you obtained."
I am not sure how to answer the RFE. She took a bunch of courses: Web programming, C++, Office applications, Business, Math, Economics, History etc. I will really appreciate any help
