Hello Experts,
I am going to apply for OPT starting from June 30th 2016 till June 29th 2017. My spouse is on H1b and her H1 expires on Jul 24 2017. We are planning to apply for H1 renewal along with COS to H4 from F1 OPT around March 2017 through her company. I am assuming that since her H1 will expire within 6 months, her H1 and my H4 start date will be from July 24th 2017.
My question is that from the period of June 29th( expiration of my OPT) till July 24th 2017, am I out of status for that period or does it count under the 60 day grace period after OPT expiration? And I am allowed to stay in US and be on H4 from July 24th?
