  • Translation into language of consulate country, or English only?

Hi guys, sorry if this has alread been asked but I'm new and I haven't seen it addresses anywhere.

My fiancé is currently getting ready to send his documents to the consulate where he is living. He is a Brazilian living in Germany, so many of his documents are in Portuguese.

He hasn't had much luck finding a certified translator who can do Portuguese>English, and it's mentioned in the directions that the consulate also accepts documents in German. So my question is: can he simply have his Portuguese documents translates into German, or does he need to translate them in to English.

The only reason we're doubting ourselves here is because of the language used in the directions: "any documents not in English, or the language of the country where the interview will take place, must be accompanied by an English translation." It almost sounds like he must have his Portuguese documents translated into English.

Has anyone else dealt with this? Thanks a lot!!
