  • Green Card Renewal with divorce

Apologize if this is in the incorrect forum.

I am a Canadian citizen, with permanent residence in NY since 2004. My green card is up for renewal in August and my divorce (husband is US citizen) will probably be finalized before that.

I'm wondering if this will have any effect on my renewal of my residency?

Thanks for any insight!! (I have a really good job, considering the area, so would like to stay here)

Since you got your PR in 2004 you should be perfectly fine even after divorce.
Divorce only affects those who have a conditional 2 year green card like I do.

Good luck, don't worry, you are all set.

      Hey Laura,

You can renew the Green card ! No Worries!!

While applying for the New permanent resident you wanna take care about that.

And it`s not needed for green card renewal, so file the petition form I-90 and you will receive the new green card.

      All the best..

      Regards

      Robert Shapiro
