Is passport required in Asylee green card application?
Hi,
I am about to submit Asylee green card application for my family members. Here I have the question -- Is passport required in the application? And is there any requirement for the expiration date of passport?
My problem is my wife's passport was lost a couple of years ago, and my son's passport is close to expiration. We cannot go to Embassy to renew or apply new passport because it can cause they prosecute us and our relative in the country where we are from.
From the i-485 instruction, I did not see any requirement for original passport or copy. It only requires copy of passport page with nonimmigrant visa if the visa is obtained within the last year. It does not apply to my family. But I searched on internet, some articles say passport is required while submitting i-485 application.
If you have the experience or know this, would you please help me with the information you have? I highly appreciate any information.
