Hi,
We had applied extensions (H1 & H4) sometime back in last April, 15. Our petitions were approved and I got I-797A and did not get I-534 (H4 extension). We have applied for duplicate approval notice I-824. We it got approved and we got the document by sometime Aug/Sep 15. We have noticed that there was a typo in the first name. Then we called USCIS and requested for correction. USCIS responded and corrected the first name (confirmed by L2 officer in call) on Jan 22, 2016. USCIS said, I will be receiving the document by Feb 22, 2016. Meanwhile, my wife had to go India on January 2016 end. We have called USCIS on March 1, 2016 and they confirmed they have sent the corrected document. I have checked with my employer about the document. My company HR(Immigration specialist) is saying that they did not receive the document and we don't need the approval notice for stamping in India also they are saying that we only need my approval notice (I797A).
I am planning to go to India on mid April, 2016 and we (me and my family) wanted to comeback on May.
When I go to India, we need to go for stamping. I am not sure, what are the required documents to submit and carry to Consulate for my wife. She has I-824 which has misspelled name and USCIS site shows below.
"On January 22, 2016, we updated your name for your Form I-539, Application to Extend or Change Nonimmigrant Status, Receipt Number YYYY YYYY XX. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address."
Please suggest. Should I update the address and check if I get the document from USCIS? or should I just ignore this document and go for stamping in India?
Thank you.
