  • Applying for US citizenship while in India

I applied for US citizenship while in India for work related extended travel. It seems I may have to go to USA for 1. biometrics 2. interview and 3. oath.
Is it possible to combine any two of them or get biometrics done in India (to reduce number of trips to USA)? Anyone who has done this before, please share your experience.

    thanks,

Naturalization required procedures must all be done in the U.S. unless you are Active Duty U.S. military deployed abroad (and not even sure of that option for biometrics and oath).

      Thanks Ray.

Is it possible to have dates for biometrics and interview or interview and oath in a week or two? I mean is there any possibility of requesting someone at USCIS to have accommodating schedule?

      thanks,

Naturalization interviews are normally scheduled about 3 months after submittal of application. Biometrics appointments are mailed out VERY SHORTLY after application is received. The special circumstances you describe won't be recognized by an agency as busy as USCIS. Even to get a reschedule of an interview date is a cumbersome experience. Once you have the biometrics appointment, however, there is flexibility which will allow you to show up before or after the appointment and be processed at discretion of the staff.
