I applied for ITIN for my wife and my dependent child, while my wife got ITIN, my child's ITIN application was rejected. A prepare made mistakes in her application and even we failed to notice it. The biggest mistake it did was wrong mailing address on my child's w-7. So we did not even get reject notice. Also due to this child tax credit was not applied and amount I owe to IRS increased. IRS adjusted my return and sent me notice to pay due amount.
Does anyone have similar experiences?
Now I want to reapply for ITIN of my child. Should I file form 1040x (form to amend tax return) along with W-7 and walk into local IRS office that processes ITIN? Anyone dealt with similar situation
