Travel on OPT Visa while H1b application has RFE

I'm currently on OPT Visa (non-stem) which expires in Jan 2017, and my employer filed for H1b this April. He filed for premium processing and got RFE on it. He's still working on the RFE and can reply by the 21st of August.I have to travel outside the U.S. for a family emergency. Would a reentry be risky if I come back before the results of the H1b Application? My travel is really important but I don't want to risk my visa status too. Thank you in advance.
