J1 waiver in process, lost passport
I'm an Indian citizen, have completed my PhD, and is currently on my AT as an assistant professor at a US University. My J1 waiver is in process with the US Department of State, and I've submitted all the documents from home country, and the Indian Consulate forwarded it to the Embassy in Washington for further processing.
I just realized that I might have lost my passport ony way back from the Consulate last month. This has never happened to be before, and it's quite unnerving. But it happened. Thankfully, my J1 visa is stamped on an older passport. If I get a new passport, do I have to start the waiver process again ? Also, my current employer statues my H1B and Perm processes, will those also have to start from a scratch?
