L2 to F1

I am currently on L2 visa with my husband on L1
Husband renewed L1 and L2 for me and kids but got a RFE which says we have to respond by august 10th
I am thinking to change from L2 to F1,Please can anyone explain me the process

You should respond to the RFE as soon as you able to. If you do not response, immigration will consider the file complete and adjudicate based on evidence in the record. Also they may consider your application abandoned. You can change from an L2 to an F1. That is not a problem.
