H1B extension

Hi ,

I have approval of I-140 and my H1 B visa stmping will expire in March 2017 . So I have to apply for extension but can't apply before sep. 2016 and I think it will take some time to get approval. I want to travel to India in November 2016 . So i have a question that Can I travel in this time ( if don't get the approved extension ) ?
