Hi everyone!
My post completion opt is expiring sept/14/2016 and I have applied for my 24-month OPT extension recently, and is under process(expecting it to be at least 2 months from now before OPT is approved). Unfortunately my company has announced that they will be laying off a lot people due to losses, I want to know what happens to OPT extension process in this case. I have 3 months of un-employement days left, as I had not used any. I am scared that there will be complications in processing my opt extension incase the worst happens.
Could you please advice what I could do, incase :
1) I get laid off, and do not find a new job but I am still using 3 month unemployment period
2)I get laid off, and find a new job during the OPT under process(I am assuming I have to apply for amendment and OPT approval is gonna be delayed)
I am really worried about the first case, Please let me know What is the solution to this.
