Default Nigerian coming to the USA

    Hi Everyone,
Any help or direction will be most appreciated!
I am a Born US Citizen,I am visiting Nigeria Oct 2006 in hope to help prepare my friend to come visit the USA and I will be sponsoring him. I have gotten all the papers I read I needed,But after reading how difficult it could be for him to get a Visitor visa,we are both wondering if it would be easier if he applied for a Student Visa to finish his Master here? Or try for the visitor and change status at a later date.
Please help. We are both single,no children, different race and I am 13 years older with well established life here,He is a recent Grad with limited assests to Niga right now due to schooling for 4 yrs.
Seriouslly what are our chances for his approval or what should we seek different.
Thank you from both of us.

1.Visitor visa; Purpose of visit and ties to Nigeria should be concrete,
    especially for young, single people.
If your friend says he is going for a casual visit to his US citizen friend in US, and in the absence of job and family ties to Nigeria, he will most certainly be denied;because here he will be suspect to settle down in US with your help.
A mention about you, here will be counterproductive.

    2. Student visa; it is a good option but he will have to show funding
for the course. If he does not have good finances, he could try for
the many scholarships that are available.

3.Other options; Since he has a bachelor's degree, you could look for an
employer in US for him who could sponsor him for an H-1b visa.
Not easy but if it works out, it is the best thing. Because, for an H-1b visa,
you do not have to show any ties to home country.

Default Experience on current Nigerian Visa Interview?

    Hi Everyone,

I am seeking information on anyone that has recently experienced a Nigerian Visa Interview for a US trip. What questions were asked and if denied Why ?
I am hearing it is very difficult for Nigerians to get a visitors visa to the USA.
Any insight would be appreciated or web link with current Niga experiences.
    Thank you !
