  • Obama Executive Action / Immigration Reform

Today I was reading the news about President Obama's Immigration Reform plan. He said that:

"We’re going to offer the following deal. If you’ve been in America for more than five years; if you have children who are American citizens or legal residents; if you register, pass a criminal background check, and you’re willing to pay your fair share of taxes – you’ll be able to apply to stay in this country temporarily, without fear of deportation."

    I also read that:

"Under the new reforms, any person who has been living in the US for at least five years or is a parent of a citizen or permanent US resident can now apply for citizenship."

Well, I have a 16 year old daughter who was born in the US while I was working there under H1-B visa status, so she's a US citizen. However, we came back to Brazil when she was only 6 months old.

My question is: under this reform, am I eligible to apply? Can we go to the US and be benefited by this new reform?

    Thanks a lot.
