H1B Visa Approved but online status shows Administrative Processing

I would really appreciate if someone with this experience comment with number of days their passport was stuck in administrative processing. Also, does it always get issued after that?

My interview was on the 21st and I got my passport yesterday. It was administrative processing for ~2 weeks.

Sorry to disappoint you but i don't think it works like that, at least not in my case. My case last updated changes every now and then. Anyhow all the best. Keep us posted.

VO said that visa is approved and will receive an update in 7 days.

But unfortunately passport is stuck at the consulate, forcing me to cancel my leisure trip. Very unfair.

I am also in the same boat. Had interview on 28th Nov and VO approved it but later went to AP. Last status update was on Dec 1 and still in AP. As far as I googled, those who went into AP got visa issue and it just a matter of time. Lets hope for the best and let me know if your case changes. I will also update my case here if anything.

Based on the experiences of Indian H1b labor visa applicants shared here on this forum, I came to the conclusion that comments of VO could NEVER be taken seriously. Do not think your visa has got approved, even if you have been informed so at the consulate interview. Do not assume you will get your passport in 10 days even if the VO says so.

Most cases with Indian citizenship are blacklisted for administrative processing without being notified on additional delays of several weeks for administrative processing. Besides, administrative processing have been resulting in higher rate of denials.

Life of H1b laborers for 1-2 months of visa processing time gets frozen, while they are forced to submit the passports to the consulate. This indefinite delays require Indian H1b laborers to pay rent for their US and Indian accommodation, and other monthly expenses without being paid by employers.

Chennai consulate gave interview on 28th Nov. Was told approved for both me and spouse. Both on H1.

My spouse received passport last week. But mine is stuck in AP.

Anyone know the wait time for Chennai consulate?
