I want to apply for my father and he lives in US with out green card. Do I need to apply for I-130 and I-485 together? or can I apply only for I-130 and wait for approval and then filed for I-485? any similar experiences?

You can file under 2 options: Concurrently (Both I-130 & I-485) or seperately: I-130 first.

You are a US citizen and your father entered the US legally, right?

I-130 and I-485 should be filed together. There is no benefit (and some downsides) to filing them separately.
