J1 extension under administrative processing but current J1 valid?

Hi guys,

My J1 EXTENSION is under administrative processing 221 G (it's been 2.5 weeks) however my current J1 is valid until April 2017. I am outside the US currently and am wondering if i can travel back to the US on my current J1 which is valid till April 2017 and work until then? My DS 2019 doesnt expire until December 2018.

Any advice?

Which Consulate did you apply ? Our Visa is getting expired, and even I am planning to go to India for extension. You can't travel to US as your passport is with them. So which website did you go to apply for the extension.
