  • Green Card through a job offer

    Hi All,

I'm working for a MNC in the capacity of a senior software engineer in Sri Lanka. Company head office is in US and they do sponsor H1B and L1 visa. USCIS says that we can go for a green card though a job offer [1] - and I' trying to go through this path since I got a strong relation ship with the employer. I have following doubts and really appreciate your help on this.

1.) How long does it take to process the Green card through this path for a Sri Lankan?
2.) Why this path is not much popular? I see in lot of cases green card filing is either via L1 or H1.
3.) What else are the requirements to have other than a job offer?
4.) What will be the rough estimated cost for the entire process?

Going through L1 or H1 is the same as what you mentioned viz., via employment. It is a long process, and hence people first get a visa (L1 or H1) so that they can enter and work in the US while the GC process is ongoing.
Just an opinion; Not legal advice.
