Hope someone is able to help me out with this!
I recently got my E2 spouse work permit approval from USCIS. However, the Indian Embassy had erroneously added my maiden last name to my first name and my spouse's last name as my last name when I had submitted my passport for name change after marriage, this was before I applied for E2 visa transfer and subsequent work permit. Therefore, the E2 work permit has the improper name!
(The untrained staff at the NYC Indian consulate gave us a tough time over the name change standard and we gave up fighting with her because we needed to apply for a visa transfer to E2 spouse urgently, now I am regretting the decision!)
I want to change my name to a proper standard i.e. my first name and my husband's last name appended to my last name. But if I do this now, will I have to file a new application with USCIS for name change on my Visa and work permit?
