  • Visitor coming to US with K-Wire Orthopedic Surgery

    Hi,

My Mother was supposed to travel from India to US (San Jose) on tourist visa but she met with an accident and got her wrist fractured. She went with an surgery in Delhi and doctor have put K-Wire (Kirschner metal wires are used in orthopedics surgery to support bone stabilization) which can be removed after 8 weeks. Doctor in Delhi told that she can travel with K-wire bandaged wrist and they can give medical certificate to take care of the K-Wire metal detection during immigration check. As she will be on tourist visa in US so the surgery issues and support will not get covered in visitor medical insurance. On return to India, they can remove K-Wire after 2-3 months.

Please suggest if anyone has experienced similar situation with visitor travel with K-Wire and any anticipated immigration issue will come up during the travel.
