My spouse and I are both Indian citizens currently in US on H1 and H4 visas.
We are planning to apply for OCI card for our new born for future use, when we travel to India. Have a few basic questions regarding OCI card -
1. Is OCI card a substitute for Indian visitor visa to travel to India? Or Indian visa still required when carrying the OCI card?
2. What is the value of OCI card compared to Visitor visa for an infant? An OCI card costs approx $360 and it needs to be renewed/re-applied when the infant takes a new US passport after 5 years. Whereas, the Visitor visa costs only $150, and it is valid for 10 years.
3. What is the process and cost of OCI renewal/re-apply when my child takes a new US passport after current passport expires?
