L1B petition/Visa renewal

Hi All,

Could you please let me know following details:

1. L1B visa, how early we can extend this visa?
2. i am planning 8 month before the expiry, is that fine?
3. is there any guideline and when i called embassy they said we can do renewal anytime.
4. can they cancel existing end date if visa not approved now ?

I have L1a, applied for extension and got a denial. That does not cancel my current visa and I can stay until its expiration.

I filed too late and now I have less options. I'd file earlier, maybe 6 months in advance, given second chance.
