H4 Validity Date question

My H1 visa expires in Dec 2017 where as my i797 is valid for another 4 years. I am planning to apply for renewal in October 2018. My i140 is approved recently. If I apply H4 EAD for my spouse today (i.e July 2017 before applying H1 extension) what will be the validity end date for EAD? will it be "Dec 2017 (Visa End date)" or "Dec 2021 (i797 End date)"??

Please advise. This will help me decide to apply for EAD now or during renewal.

EAD will be dependent on the latest I94 expiry of yours/your spouse's, whichever is earlier.
