  • I just got my change to f1 approved but I still have a i539 pending

    Hi Everybody,

I just got my change to f1 approved after 9 months. Since the rules changed recently, I had to send additional i539s every 6 months to keep my B2 status (I changed my status from B2 to F1). I entered the US late June so my initial B2 status ended the last days of Dec. I sent one to extend my 6 months period from Jan to Jun (which got approved) and one from July to Dec which is still pending.

I just received my change of status to F1 approved and my other i539 is still pending. Should I cancel that one? I heard that if for some reason that one gets approved (from Jul to Dec of this year) it will override my F1 status, taking me back to B2. If I have to cancel it, how should I do it? Just send a letter to USCIS where my receipt notice was sent?

    Thank you!
