We live in the USA, just had a death in the family abroad, and are trying to get back to the foreign country ASAP. One of our kids is a minor who entered the US little over a year ago on a greencard, and who automatically qualified for citizenship under the Child Citizenship Act of 2000. We hadn't gotten around to getting her a US passport or getting a certificate of citizenship, partly because we didn't plan to visit the old country until next year. Can the child leave the US with the US greencard/immigrant stamp on her passport, even though technically she is already a citizen? (I understand even an expedited US passport can take weeks so that option would not get us in time for the funeral).
