    Angry OCI Eligibility!

Indian consulate in Houston web site says that my kid cannot apply for OCI because she is a minor and both her parents are Indian citizens! This is the first time I'm hearing about such a thing. I even know a friend in same situation whose daughter is an OCI.
    Any thoughts?

Some people got OCI for their kids (even though both parents were Indians), but looks like GOI changed the rules _OR_ initially the rules were not clear. As it stands now, from the website and FAQ, you cannot get OCI for your kid. Some of them were lucky! (Many things are like this with rules in India)

They changed(rather got it clarified) it last Aug/September. I think your friend would have applied before that. Anyways you could get PIO which is almost same as OCI(except no expiry and no registration requirement) and has less fees.
