I am planning to go to india in May 2007 and coming back in July 2007. I came to US on F1 visa in August 2006. Is there any special procedure I need to follow to take off in Summer semister...? Do I need to inform my college or INS that I am going to India...? What are the papers I need to take with me? Any kind of information will be greatly appreciated.

Yes you can go and you can contact "International student services" in your uni and they will have a officer who will sign off your i-20 at the bottom.
