Indian Passport renewal information - Urgent

Hi all,
I need to renew my passport (which has expired). Can some one else submit the forms in the embassy on my behalf ?

You can mail the documents yourself or someone can go to the embassy and deposit them for u.

Yes, that's right.
Just make sure you mail the original passport via a trackable service such as FEDEX. Also wise to have copies of your pasposrt pages just in case.
I mailed my passport from Boston to the consulate in NY by FEDEX overnight service and received the new passport fairly quickly - very smooth.
