Passport Stamping

Hello, I am wondering if some of you guys had a similar situation. I sent my medicals/Police clearance and landing fee in July 2007. However, I was unable to send my passport as I need to travel very often.

My consultant suggested that given sufficient amount of time with the above documents I can probably go to the visa office now and get the passport stamped on the same day. However on enquiring, the embassy just asked me to send them the passport instead of coming there in person. Can someone here tell me from experience, how long does it take for the visa to be stamped provided that all the other documents were sent almost 4 months ago.

Pls advise how much approximately time embassy takes after interview for visa stmaping.
My passport is gone for renewal I want to have idea my interview is already through now when can I hear from Embassy for passport.
