Default F-2 Visa while on OPT

    Hi,
Im graduating in May 2008 and already have a very good job offer. Considering the H1 issues, I presume that I will be working on OPT from June 2008 to Jun 2009.
And Iam planning to marry once I graduate sometime in August 2008.
How difficult is it to get the F-2 visa to my would-be wife once I marry, considering that I will be on OPT?
    Is it a safe bet?
I actually need to plan all the things well ahead.
Any help in this regard are truly appreciated.
    Thanks

Default F-2 Visa Approved on OPT

    Hi,

I would not recommend traveling on OPT. Because one of my friends had gone to india on her OPT to get married and had faced problems at port of entry. Some how she managed to convince the officer and enter US again.

As far as F-2 on OPT is concerned your spouse can get it if she can show 2-3 pay stubs of yours and you job offer letter. I addition your bank statements showing the amount stated on your I-20. Also show some documentary proof that your spouse would return back to india .

My husband recently got his F-2 visa at melbourne consulate Australia. And I am working full time on OPT.
Its not impossible to get F-2 for spouse while you are on OPT but it is tough. You need to show proper financial documents and prove that your wife is not a potential immigrant.
