We hold Indian passports and are residing in USA on H1 Visa Status.

We're visiting New Zealand this february (from Los Angeles), for which we're applying for a tourist Visa.

On our way back, we would like to stopover in Sydney(Australia) for a couple of days (certainly less than 72 hours).

Can this kind of a transit be done using an Australian Transit Visa Subclass 771 (http://www.immi.gov.au/visitors/transit/771/index.htm) ?

Has anyone used such transit methods before?
