    Default Bank Balance

    Hi,

I am a grad student and my husband is a postdoc. I am graduating in June and we want to bring our parents and in-laws for that occation.

Can anybody help me on the following:

    1. If we sponsor them how much bank balance do we need to show?

    2. If they sponsor themselves how much bank balance they need to show?

    Thanks a lot,
    Shuchi

There is no rule that you have to maintain some amount in order to sponsor your parents.Your parents should however have enough to pay for their trip, property documents(to show they have strong ties with the home country),fixed deposits(if they have),bank statement, letter confirming their employment(if they are employed).
Note that this is not a legal advice. Consult your immigration attorney for the best upto-date information.

    thanks alot!

If my parents and in-laws sponsor themselves (considering the fact that they have enough money to pay for the airfare, they have assets (house/fixed deposits etc) in India and they are employed too), could you please help me with the following questions:

Is it necessary to send a copy of our bank statements?

My understanding is we need invitation letters from our universities clearly mentioning that I am inviting them for my graduation ceremony. Is that correct? Do we need to mention our salaries on the invitation letter?
