How to obtain UK Visitor Visa in USA - Indian citizen

I am an Indian Citizen and currently in South Carolina, USA on B1 (business visa). On my way back to India, I want to stop over in London for around a week to stay with sister and then proceed to India.

So can you please let me know how do I obtain an UK Visitor Visa while being in USA. Also please detail the document list, both mine as well as sister's side..

Is it possible to get a UK Transit visa for such a duration. My return flight is British Airways to Bangalore via London?
