Hi All,
I need your help. I am a computer engineer with 7 years of IT Consulting Experience. I was in US on H4 visa from Dec 2006 to June 2007. During this time, one of the employer applied H1B visa for me. My application didn't get selected in 2008 H1B lottery. So I came back and started working in India. Now my current employer is filing application for H1B on April 1, 2008. Like last year, this application will go through lottery system and I am not sure about time (When) and nature (Selected/Non Selected) of lottery result. Meantime same employer is filing application for B1 visa. As per the employer, I should go to US for 1 month, learn new system/processes, come back and do the KT to other team members. If my H1B gets approved, then I will attend H1B Visa Interview at one of the US consulate in India sometime in September 2008. If my H1B application does not get selected in lottery or gets denied, then my employer will file for L1 once I complete my 1 year with them.
With this background, I will like your opinion about should I go for B1 when my H1B application is filed? What are the risks involved? If I go for B1 Visa Interview, should I mention Visa Officer about my pending H1B application? What will happen when I go for H1B Visa Interview? Same question with L1, what will happen when I go for L1 Visa Interview? Do you think H4 Visa stamped on my passport will become hindrance in B1 / H1B / L1 process even though it’s not linked to any of those visa categories?
My questions may have been repeated somewhere on this forum, but thought I will explain my situation and will ask for guidance. I am looking forward to your guidance and will appreciate any kind of help. Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Madhuri
