Default whats my Status H1-B or ???

    HI,

I am on H1-B visa. Got my Family based GC approved after intreview this morning. Lucky Me !!!. My question is GC is not stamped on my passport. Currently i am on h1-B visa?? Since my GC is approved although my Card is not arrived yet ( The intreview officer told me it will take a month) what will be my current status?? Am i on H1-b or GC?? What should i need to do next?? do i have to inform my employer that i got GC or can i continue on H1-B till i get my actual card?? I heard that the officer takes all your EAD/Travel document etc and stamp in your passort. The officer asked for these and gave them back to me. What does this mean?? I heard some rumors about the Security clearence etc and some did not get the GC card yet.Is there any thing to worry about?? How will i know if the security/Name check is cleared?? Your help is greartly apperciated.

    Thanks
    Raj

    Default Hold on ...

... till you get your card.

You need to have some document on you that says you have an approved GC, without it, you're still on H1B.

Once you get your card then inform your employer and you're a permanent resident!

However, if you don't get your card in three months talk to USCIS.

    Take care.

Have you not received your EAD (work permit) card? since you were approved, you are no longer on H1B status or any other non-immigrant status. You are a permanent resident. You are just waiting on the GC.

tell them you are a permanent resident and if you will continue working with them, then fill out an I-9.
