Question Greencard (How much money can one legally bring to US from India)

My parents have just received their greencard and will be joining me in the US. How much money can they legally carry?

    Thank you in advance.

There is no limit to how much you can bring into US but you must declare the money at US entry if it is $10k or more.

But there are limits to how much you can take out of India.
A bank will release them $100k/person on the basis of the immigrant visa.
    plus some travel allowance.

PS. HSBC facilitates account opening in US before departure from India, so they can transfer the released forex
electronically instead of carrying drafts/ traveller's cheques which can be lost.
