RE: visa extension on OPT

Hi,

Iam a F1 student and have completed my masters and currently on my OPt. I didnt get H1 in this years lottery and my visa(given only for 2 years) expires in October. So I would like to know if I can apply for a visa extension( as OPT is now for 29 months) on my OPT or If I should take up any other course for visa. Any advice/suggestions/help will be appreciated.

I have seen some people getting F1 visas on OPT. Now that the OPT could be a total of 29 months for STEM grads, I would think that there is going to be a lot more people in similar situation.

The case I remember, someone took an apointment and the VO only looked at the I-20 and OPT card and granted the visa. No harm in trying if you must travel.

Thanks for your timely reply. Iam actually looking out for different options to extend my visa. My visa expires on Oct 30th of 2008 so when should i approach the consulate 60days prior to the visa expiry date or do you have any idea as how to go about this process.

Any help in this regard is appreciated.
