Visa Invitation Letter

Hello,

I am a US citizen and I would like to invite my friend (boyfriend) from the Seychelles to visit me in the United States. I have read that an invitation letter should be sent to the party requesting the visitor’s visa and be presented to the US Consulate in Mauritius during his visitor’s visa interview.

Can you tell me what information is required to be included in the invitation letter? Should it be notarized?

Also, what is the maximum length of stay my friend can visit me?

Does it matter that I indicate if he is my boyfriend or friend as far as the perception from the Consulate?
