H1 petition approved. Going to F2 visa

Hi,
My H1B petition is approved for 2008. But my employer has misplaced the actual petition and has filed to get a duplicate copy. Meanwhile, I want to join my husband - who is in F1 status. I am doing to attend the interview for a F2 visa. I do not have any prior US visas.

Q. Will the visa interviewer know that my H1 petition is approved? What can I respond to him if he asks about my H1 petition?

Q. Can I get SSN after I get the change of status approval (once I am in US)?

I will say do not enter on F2. Even getting it may cause problems.
F2 person cannot have immigrant intent however H1 can.
