Permanent residence in India

I am a US citizen of Indian origin. As I am retired and old, I want to move back to India permanently. Please advise me how I can accomplish this - what type of VISA I would need.

Thank you very much for your advice to get OCI card to stay permanently in India.

I have a couple of follow-up questions:

1. I am currently a US citizen. Can I get OCI, as I understand US does not allow dual citizenship?

2. My parents were Indian citizen. I am 76 years old and I cannot prove that they were Indian Citizen because they never travaled out of India in their whole life and both passed away in 1989.

Please advise if in such circumstances I can get OCI.

1. OCI is not dual citizenship. It is somewhat like US greencard.
In fact, US allows dual citizenship. It is India that does not allow dual citizenship.

2. Were you Indian citizen at some point? If so, you can show that proof.

Good evening, I am a retired american citizen, I have visited India many times, I have a 10 year visa, however must leave every 6 months for two months, is there any way I can get a permanant visa? thank you
