Default EAD renewal question - pls help

My PD is Sep, 2004 and I am in EB2. I got my I-140 approved in Jan 2007. I have applied for i-485, EAD, AP in July 2007 and got EAD, AP approval in 2007. I am using my H1 and I am in 8th year on H1.

My wife is also applied for I-485, EAD, AP in July 2007 and got EAD, AP last year. she is using her H1.

Note: I and my wife are not using EAD and AP.

Both are waiting for 485 approval.

Now I have the following expiration dates

    1) My wife's EAD expiration date is 09/26/08
    2) My EAD expiration date is 11/12/08
    3) My H1 is expiring on 09/12/2009
    4) My wife's H1 is expiring on 11/12/2009

    Given this,
    1) Do I require to renew my and my wife's EAD ASAP ?
    2) Can I apply for EAD after it is expired. If yes, how long ?
    3) Is the process same for "EAD approval before Expiration" and " "EAD approval after Expiration"
    4) What is the typical processing time for EAD renewal in Nebraska SC?
    5) Is it safe to apply the EAD renewals in Jan 2009, in case my i-485 still pending at that time ?
    6) When should I apply for my H1 renewal?

Hope some of the questions were answered in the forum. But I would let to get your opinion.

    Thanks in advance.

This makes everything about EAD/AP optional unless you want to keep it. It is your choice. You need not apply for extension if you wish to and extend it when you want it later.
