    Default F-1 Visa Problem

i am taking master of public health classes here in the usa, this is my first semester, i am on f-1 visa my i-20 until 2010, the thing is i didn t like the material, it was not what i thought,i can t do this anymore, at the same time i have to attend the classes or i will fall out of status, and i applied to residency training programs this year and waiting for interview calls, my question is
can i leave the us and come back on a visitor visa as i already have one in my passport before the f-1 visa was issued to me and the expiry date on the visitor visa is august 2011 and there is no stamp on it saying that it is cancelled or something like that i.e can i come back on my older visa as long as the expiry date on it has not passed .

if i cant how do i know that i am maintaining my status for the f-1 visa

You want to discontinue studies and lose your F1 visa status? You can do that. Many people take up Public health so that they can study and attempt USMLE while doing that.

If you are already done with it, the residency interviews can be handled with a B1/B2 visa and then they can file for a H1b when you are ready to join.

I am not a lawyer and you need to consult with one to validate any info posted on the forum and discuss your case specifics. H1b Question? Read the FAQ first.http://www.immihelp.com/visas/h1b/h1-visa-faq.html
