urgent help with advanced parole

I am desperate for some help please. I married an American last september I have a full time job here ssn everything. I am just waiting for my Green card, I have had the interview etc. I had a call from England today saying my dad is very ill in hospital his heart and kidneys are not doing well. I NEED TO GET HOME. Here is the dilema. I am out of status because my temp visa ran out over a year ago, (because this whole process has taken so long) and I spoke with my lawyer today, he informs if I go home even with a parole form I risk not being allowed back into the States because I am out of status. My question is this, is there any SPECIAL LEAVE I can apply for due to my dads seriuos health, or does anyone have any other advice, or does anyone think this is risky leaving the States until my Green card arrives. I called my local USCIS office for an update and all I got was although its been a year, its still within there time frame.
