Student Status

Hello,
My daughter has Work Authorization Document, she is during the process of Green Card. She has been resident of New York from 2004.
She is a student of Hunter College in New York. They do not accepted her as a instate student, they explain her that WAD is not document which qualify her to benefits for instate student, they put her in status of international student.
Do she has right to apply for instate status with WAD card?

Does she have greencard yet? Or just the EAD?

For this moment she have just EAD, but she will receive green card soon, because she already had interview. It could be few weeks from now.

What is her legal status in the US? EAD is not a legal status.

In other words, how did she come to the US? On what visa? Is that visa still valid?
