B2 Help please

Hi

I have been granted a B2 visa which has been stamped at port of entry for 3 months.
Can you tell me if I am allowed to apply for extension?

The internet says there is a law which states you can not apply for extension until after 3 months?
Will this mean I have to return home for a new visa?

Huh? What rumor site did you read?
If you were admitted in B2 status and you have a white I-94 in your passport, you can apply for an extension. If you were admitted in B2 status with a visa waiver and have a green I-94W, you can not apply for an extension.

You might have probably read that it is advisable not to file for an extension immediately after arriving. But legally, it is possible to do so.
