EAD-AP-H4 Question. Please help!

I hold an EAD and my AP expired yesterday.

I need to travel to Canada this coming Friday for my grandmother's funeral. My new AP was approved/mailed on Jan.30. My lawyer says she should have it by this coming week but I am worried it's not going to happen in time.

My question is this... Can I apply for an H-4 under my husbands H1B on the way back into the US if I don't have my AP in time? I work full time. Will this cancel out my current EAD or cancel out my H-4 status when I go back to work that following Wednesday? Does anyone know how long it takes for the AP the leave Nebraska servicing center and get to the lawyer's office?

I don't want to screw up my GC app. but I really need to be with my family right now.

You can return on AP or H4. EAD remains valid irrespective of what you return on. I have been getting mail from NSC in a day or two most of the times.
