Visitor Visa - Help Needed

Hi,
I am planning to apply for Visitor Visa for my mother in law and father in law together at chennai. Upon issual of Visa, my father in law may not be travelling with my mother in law. Will it be a problem? Is it necessary for them to travel together. Is it possible for my mother in law to travel separately and for my father in law to not to travel.

2) Is it advisable for both my MIL and FIL to apply for Visa together, though only my mother in law will be travelling to US. Is it in anyway advantageous compared to my MIL applying for a Visa alone.
