Smile OCI Granted at CGI, Houston

My OCI Application is approved (Granted) and Houston CGI received my documents a week ago.

Now, I am getting ready to send my US Passport to affix the 'U-Visa' sticker. According to the instructions on CGI Houston web site, we are supposed to send Indian Passport along with US Passport for cancellation.

However, I am curious to know :

    1. Is it a must to send the Indian Passport ???
    2. Is it required to cancel the Indian Passport at this point, can we delay this ???

    Comments/suggestions on these 2 questions please !!!

    Thanks

    1. Yes.
    2. Yes. What is the reason for you to delay it? That passport is not valid anyway since the day you became foreign citizen.

    Default Same situation

Hello all and also to thread creator,

I am also in the same situation, I can see online that my OCI status as granted, but I have lost my Indian Passport after making the application.

But the condition is while collecting the OCI I have to produce Original Indian Passport.

What happened in your case? Did you got the stamping? Did you had to go through any procedures?

    Any input would be appreciated.

    regards
    K
