Tourist visa: What to say what not to say?

I'm giving birth to our twins in Sept/Oct 2009 and I really want my mother to be at the birth of my children. I'm planning to apply a tourist visa for her.

About my mother: She is not educated, she speaks our dialect which is little known to India she also speaks a little bit of Hindi. She's a well to do woman, she can pay for her own expenses if I allow her. She has been married to my dad who is not planning to come to the US with her for about 38 years, she has 4 other children and many grandchildren in India, she is very active at her church, village and other organization is her village. She is 56 years old.

Qs: I'm planning to write to the Embassy explaining my mom's needs for a translator and if she needs to bring one with her.

Telling the Embassy the real reason why I want my mom to visit us and that she will return to India in Jan' 2010 when we (my husband, the twins and myself) go to India to attend the 100th anniversary of our church in my village.

My mom's financial position and if they still prefer my husband and I to sponsor her?

Is it neccessary to tell them all those facts? Do you have anything to add, should I even write a letter?

I have been here for 7 years on a GC. I used to work but quit my job to concentrate on my pregnancy. My husband owns a business.

Pregnancy/Delivery is not a good reason. If she knows any of the major Indian languages, she can schedule an interview in that language. (Consulate will provide a translator) Check VFS website, there will be an option of regional language interviews. If she can afford her own expenses there is no need for you to sponsor her. All she needs is an informal invitation letter from you.
